Father where were you when I needed you most in my life

Where were you when I needed the strength of your mite

Father I remember special times we shared when I was a young girl

I wish you would have stayed around to show me the world

Father I remember our talks when you would arrive home from work

I ask.. do you remember the day that my mother gave birth

Father you asked for me, yet still you are not a part of my life in any form

I needed your arms wrapped around me to help me weather all the storms

Father what did I do to make you alienate yourself from me

What did I do to make you just leave me be

Father where were you when my kids were being born into this world

You left me in the world alone, a lost little girl

Father I miss your deep voice and all the knowledge you shared

I miss you even when I thought you didn't care                        

Father I am still without husband, maybe I needed you around to teach

Allow me to see what a good man should truly be

Father my boys dont know you and they wished for a grandfather many times

Never knowing you is something I am sure will always haunt their minds

Father you were in dire distress and yet we are still not together

I got on my knees nightly, yet still I will be without you forever

Father I wish you well in your life I do love you so

I love you more than you could and would ever really know
