Poetry is the art of drawing a picture with words
Of things that were felt, seen and sometimes heard

Words written on paper meant to speak to the ears
Words that may stir up emotions, sometimes relating to others fears

Poetry is the mind forming thoughts to paint a picture for the eyes to see
Ears hearing the words and allowing the eyes to be a part of the writer's reality

Sometimes rhyming, sometimes pure thoughts to stimulate one's mind
Poems can be filled with words of wisdom or words used as weapons meant to be un-kind

Poetry is meant to be read thoroughly and a process of reading between the lines
To get an understanding of the writer and truly what the message of the poem defines

Words of expression, encouragement and wisdom, complete with imagery
That is truly the definition and the beauty of words written in the form of Poetry
